New York community reacts to stroller recall

maclaren stroller recall 100x100Parents in the New York community of Maverick Park Slope, where the human-to-stroller ratio is about 2 to 1, are in a frenzy about this week’s Consumer Product Safety Commission () of about a million single and double strollers made by Maclaren USA. The strollers are being recalled because of the risk of child fingertip amputation and laceration. At the time of the , Maclaren had received 15 reports of children placing their fingers in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, which resulted in 12 reports of fingertip amputations in the United States.

CPSC announces recall of popular summer tow-behind floats

According to the ’s announcement, the plastic hitch that connects the inflatable float to the boat, which Sevca calls the “Quick Hitch,” can break and project fragments back toward the person or persons riding the Tow Behind. Serious injuries may result if the hitches break.

CPSC announces recall of defective steam mops

steam mop 100x100Thane International’s top selling H20 Mop Steam Cleaners are being recalled over a wiring problem that could cause electrical shocks and burns. The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Thane announced the voluntary of 580,000 mops yesterday, advising customers to avoid using the mops until they have been repaired.
