Such updates have spurred some attorneys to file for mistrials in some cases because jurors have used Twitter and instant messaging to keep others informed.

Clemson research offers hope for TBI patients

CPSC announces recall of popular summer tow-behind floats

According to the CPSC’s announcement, the plastic hitch that connects the inflatable float to the boat, which Sevca calls the “Quick Hitch,” can break and project fragments back toward the person or persons riding the Tow Behind. Serious injuries may result if the hitches break.

Tanimura & Antle, Inc. of Salinas, Calif., issued the after the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture detected salmonella on the lettuce in a randomized test.

Arkansas daycare mistakes wiper fluid for Kool-Aid

wiper fluid 100x100A day care near the town of Scott, Arkansas, served ten children between 2 and 7 years old windshield wiper fluid late last Thursday afternoon, an Associated Press article reported. According to authorities, a school worker bought the windshield wiper fluid, along with many other items, during a recent shopping trip. Later, the owner-operator of the daycare apparently mistook the toxic fluid for Kool-Aid. “This product was mistakenly grabbed and thought to be Kool-Aid and put in the refrigerator,” Laura James, a pediatric pharmacologist and toxicologist, told the AP.

Ford among defendants in new Explorer rollover case

98 ford explorer 150x150The problems that plagued the Ford Explorer and Bridgestone/Firestone tires earlier in the decade have resurfaced in court, according to the Southeast Texas Record.

Relatives of a man killed in a Ford Explorer accident in November 2005 are suing both Ford Motor Company and Bridgestone/Firestone as well as the driver of the Explorer, Ana Herrera.

Ricardo Garcia died of injuries he sustained when the 1998 Explorer he was a passenger in rolled over multiple times. The driver, Ana Herrera, lost control of the vehicle on an Arkansas road. Herrera’s Explorer rolled several times when she attempted to return the vehicle to the road.

Senate supports roof crush liability

A U.S. Senate panel recommended Wednesday that a National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) proposal on vehicle roof strength requirements be amended so that it does not limit the ability of plaintiffs to sue automakers in roof crush cases, according to an Associated Press report.
