Graco strollers recalled due to amputation, laceration hazard

10115c 100x100Another popular brand of strollers are being recalled by the manufacturer due to the risk of children’s fingertips being amputated or lacerated, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Commission (CPSC). Graco Children’s Products Inc., of Atlanta, Ga., is recalling about 1.5 million strollers because the stroller’s canopy hinge mechanism can amputate or lacerate children’s fingertips while the canopy is being opened or closed. To date, Graco has received reports of five fingertip amputations and two fingertip lacerations. The involves Graco Passage, Alano, and Spree strollers and travel systems. Strollers recalled after reports of child fingertip amputations

10033b 100x100The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Maclaren USA of South Norwalk, Conn., announced a voluntary of about one million Maclaren Strollers because the stroller’s hinge mechanism poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding/opening the stroller. To date, the firm has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations in the United States.
