Vita Breath supplement found to contain dangerous levels of lead

vitabreath 100x100The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is urging the public not to purchase or consume Vita Breath, a brand of dietary supplement sold at health fairs on the Internet, because the product may contain dangerous levels of lead. To date, the FDA has received one report of a patient with lead poisoning who was taking Vita Breath and two other herbal products.

NYC residents prepare as doorman strike looms

doorman 100x100New York City is bracing itself for a problem that might make most non-city dwellers think “boo hoo hoo” – a looming strike of some 30,000 of the city’s residential doormen and other service workers.

The Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union has been in negotiations with New York City’s Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations, Inc., which represents building owners, for higher wages, but little progress has been made.

NYC sanitation worker killed on duty

fj 100x100A New York City sanitation worker died while on duty in Queens last week after being struck by a milk delivery truck. Forty-one-year-old Frank Justich, who worked for the city’s sanitation department for 11 years, had been removing trash from a street corner in Queens when a tractor-trailer rounded the corner too widely and pinned Justich against his own truck.

Jury awards $3.5 million to man injured by NYC subway
