AAAAAv6e0RsAAAAAAIXu4Q 100x100Another 21 lots of Tylenol, Motrin and Benadryl are being added to a recall originally issued January 2010 by McNeil Consumer Healthcare as a precaution because the company discovered the drugs were shipped in wooden pallets that had been treated with a fungicide and may cause consumers to become ill. The was originally initiated because there were reports that some of medicines had an unusual moldy, musty, or mildew-like odor that in some cases was associated with temporary and non-serious gastrointestinal events.

Massive salmonella outbreak linked to 47 Illinois Subway restaurants

salmonella outbreakPublic health officials investigating the outbreak of an uncommon strain of salmonella that swept through Illinois from May to June announced they have linked the bacteria to 47 Subway franchise stores in the state. Illinois Department of Health officials say they have confirmed 97 cases of Salmonella Hvittingfoss infection across 28 Illinois counties.

NHTSA investigating reports of sudden acceleration in Ford and Mercury cars

This time, the complaints involve acceleration incidents that have occurred in the 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan.

FDA finds children’s drug manufacturer lax in quality control

johnsonandjohnson 100x100Quality and security lapses identified during a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigation has led to the temporary suspension of production at Johnson & Johnson’s McNeill PPC drug manufacturing plant, located in Fort Washington, Penn., where children’s Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl and Zyrtec were made. The investigation was followed by a recall of 1,500 lots of the brand name over-the-counter products distributed in the U.S. and internationally. The FDA says it is considering more actions against the company, including possible criminal penalties.

Kuuma grills recalled after 3 reports of leaking fuel and burn injuries

Transportation secretary says people should stop driving recalled Toyotas

ray lahoodToyota’s recent of 2.3 million cars and sport utility vehicles over “sticking” accelerator pedals follows a larger last October of 4.2 million vehicles for possible floor mat entrapment. The recalls have created an undercurrent of fear of confusion among Toyota owners, many of whom no longer feel their cars are safe to drive.

Toyota pedal manufacturer says its products not to blame

With more than eight million cars and trucks worldwide falling under a massive due to sudden unintended acceleration, the Japanese carmaker is looking for some sort of solution to pacify a growing anxious consumer base. Last fall, it blamed floor mats for the problem. Last month, Toyota announced the problem also fell on the vehicles’ gas pedals.

Can Toyota survive its unintended acceleration recalls?

Just ask Toyota Motor Sales (TMS). The Japanese automaker has already launched an image-mending campaign aimed at countering the negative vibe customers may have following the company’s of 2.3 million vehicles in the U.S. due to reports of sticky gas pedals that have caused unintended acceleration. The Jan. 21 follows a fall 2009 Toyota of floor mats because of concerns that gas pedals could stick to the mats, causing unintended acceleration.
